Admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology (CIMAT) is conducted in accordance with the norms, eligibility criteria, and reservation policies prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu and the regulatory framework of Bharathiar University.
To be eligible for admission into the MBA program at the Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology, candidates must have passed any Bachelor’s Degree/Master's Degree from a recognized university with A minimum aggregate of 50% is required in the qualifying degree, although this is relaxed to 45% for candidates belonging to SC, ST, or BC categories. Admission is primarily based on a valid score from the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET), conducted by Anna University. Additionally, scores from other national-level entrance exams like CET exam on ASFASMTN, CAT, MAT, CMAT, or XAT may also be considered, subject to the approval of Bharathiar University and prevailing government policy for the academic year.
The Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology strictly adheres to the reservation policy mandated by the Government of Tamil Nadu for admission to higher education programs. This policy ensures equitable access and representation by reserving seats for various social groups. The categories include Open Competition (OC), Backward Class (BC), Backward Class Muslim (BCM), Most Backward Class & Denotified Communities (MBC & DNC), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Caste Arunthathiyars (SCA), and Scheduled Tribe (ST). Additionally, a portion of seats is reserved for Differently-Abled candidates and other special categories as specified in the state guidelines, ensuring inclusive and fair opportunities for all eligible students.
Candidates must register and apply for the TANCET or other accepted entrance exams when notifications are released.
Simultaneously, candidates should fill out the CIMAT Application Form (available online on the college website and offline at the admissions office).
Appear for the TANCET (or other accepted exam) on the scheduled date.
The TN Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE) will conduct a centralized counseling process based on TANCET ranks.
Candidates must register online for counseling, choose their preferred colleges (including CIMAT), and lock their choices.
Seats will be allotted based on the candidate’s rank, category, and availability of seats.
Candidates who are allotted a seat at CIMAT through the counseling process must report to the college on the specified date.
Provisional admission is granted only upon verification of all original documents and payment of the prescribed fees.
The list of admitted students is submitted by CIMAT to Bharathiar University for final approval.
Upon university approval, the admission is confirmed.
If any applicant is unable to submit the application in online, they can submit the hard copy of the filled in application in the college office.
