ADMISSION POLICY AND PROCESS

Admission to Ph.D. programs with the recognized Research Centres at all affiliated colleges are made by Bharathiar University, Coimbatore twice a year. Aspiring research scholars are expected to get in touch with the recognized supervisors associated with the research centres to fix a tentative research topic and obtain their consent for being a supervisor to the applicant.

Selection

The applications of the eligible candidates shall be processed by Committees constituted by the Director (Research) for the purpose of selection. Such Committees shall screen the applications as per the eligibility norms and be responsible for the conduct of test and interview for the eligible candidates. Based on the performance in the test and interview, the successful candidates shall be short listed by the above Committees. Candidates qualified in NET/SLET/other National Level Eligibility Test are exempted from written test and they have to appear for the interview only. Candidates who have been awarded INSPIRE Fellowship of DST, Rajiv Gandhi and Maulana Azad Fellowships of UGC or similar Fellowships awarded by statutory bodies of Govt. of India are exempted from written test and they have to appear for the interview only for admission to Ph.D. programme.

Admission

The Candidate can apply while they are in final year of graduation. If The Candidate get through the selection process, they will be given provisional admission on the condition that they provide their mark sheet and a certificate of passing by a specific date.

Open / Management Quota

The Research Board constituted by the Vice-Chancellor shall approve and recommend the short-listed candidates for admission to the doctoral programme in the appropriate Specialization, after giving due consideration to the interdisciplinary fields of research, if any, and the faculty in which the candidate shall be registered.

Selected candidates shall be provisionally registered for Ph.D. programme with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor either in January or July session as decided by the candidate.

The date of provisional registration shall be normally 1st January or 1st July of the year in which the candidate is admitted.

Application Form

The application form may be filled clearly with all the required details. The indicated attachments are to be sent along with the application to the admissions office of CIMAT.

Research Committee

A Research Committee is constituted to promote the innovative and industrially relevant research to be undertaken by the faculty members of this institution with high quality accuracy. The research committee comprises of Principal as Chairperson, Dean as Coordinator, and senior faculties as members.

Functions

Developing contribute environment which leads to the promotion of Innovation and Research activities in the institution.

Monitoring the effectiveness and smooth operation of Research & Innovation activities of the institution.

Promoting collaborative research.

Strengthening industry and institution interaction by organizing conference, workshop, symposium and so on.

Encouraging faculty members to apply for Major and Minor Research Projects, Innovation Centres and Incubation Centres.
